Humpback Sculptural Lidded Vessel – Sterling Silver Kintsugi

This one-of-a-kind sculptural vessel combines functionality with artistic expression, making it a striking piece for both everyday use and display.

Material & Process: Wheel-thrown from stoneware clay and fired to 1245°C / 2273°F for strength and durability. The lid is freehand cut, and the whale’s tail is sculpted and attached with care. A crack on the lid has been repaired using kintsugi finished with sterling silver, transforming an imperfection into a distinctive part of the vessel’s story.

Design Details: Sculpted humpback whales move around the vessel as though swimming through deep ocean currents. Their hand-carved pleats and textured bodies emerge from a dark, glossy surface layered with blue, grey, white, and earthy tones. Barnacle-like textures evoke the richness of the ocean floor, while the whale-tail lid gives the vessel a strong sculptural presence.

Capacity: Holds approximately 170 cubic inches —offering generous space, more than sufficient for any individual.
